EMA Crossover Pullback Strategy (TREPP)

The strategy

TREPP in plain words.

What it is

A trend-following system built on five checks: Trend, RSI, EMA, Pullback and Probability. That is what TREPP stands for.

What it does

It waits for a trend to prove itself, then joins it on the pullback, the short dip against the trend before it continues, instead of chasing the first move.

How it works

The 8 EMA crosses the 21 EMA on the 5-minute chart and RSI confirms the momentum. On the 1-minute chart, price breaks the 200 EMA, comes back to test it and holds. Your limit order waits at that retest. Your stop sits past the retest candle, 20 to 30 points from your entry on MYM. Your target is at least twice your risk away and set before you enter.

What gets graded

The rules the reps grade.

TREPP is written down rule by rule, so every rep can be scored against it.

The call. Trade the crossover, or stand aside: on chop, on a fakeout where the 1-minute break never comes, and whenever one of its checks fails.
The bias. State it before the order goes in, and match the crossover: long on a bullish cross, short on a bearish one.
The signal. The 8 EMA crosses the 21 EMA on the 5-minute chart, and the order waits until it has.
Momentum. Read RSI at the crossover: above 50 backs a long, below 50 backs a short.
The trigger. On the two-timeframe reps, a 1-minute candle closes through the 200 EMA before any entry exists. A wick through it does not count.
The entry. A limit order at the retest, where price comes back to test the level it just broke. Never chased, and an order that does not fill is left alone.
The stop. Past the retest candle, 20 to 30 points from entry on MYM: at 20 when the candle sits closer, never more than 30.
The target. Set before entry, at least twice the risk away, and it never moves once you are in.
The clock. No entry before 10:00 ET.
Managing the trade. At 40 points in your favor the stop moves to breakeven, your entry price, and a stop only ever moves in your favor.
The journal. Every rep logged, with how you felt when you took it.

What is an EMA crossover pullback strategy?

A strategy that waits for a faster moving average to cross a slower one, the sign a trend has started, then enters on the pullback, the short dip against the trend, instead of chasing the first move.
